Rogers, Ark.– USL Arkansas celebrates a significant milestone as the proposed site for its future state-of-the-art sports venue receives approval for rezoning. The decision was passed during the City of Rogers Planning Commission meeting, held on July 18th at Rogers City Hall.
The stadium site, comprising 11.55 acres located at the southeast corner of W. Green Acres Road & S. 41st Street, will be rezoned from the C-2 (Highway Commercial) district to the U-COM (Uptown Commercial Mixed Use) and U-ENT (Uptown Entertainment) zoning districts. This move aligns the property with the future comprehensive growth map for the area as an Uptown Regional Center, paving the way for the construction of a much-anticipated sports facility.
“Receiving approval for rezoning signifies a significant step forward in our journey towards creating a vibrant, community-centered venue for professional soccer in Arkansas,” said Chris Martinovic, co-founder of USL Arkansas. “We’re grateful to the Rogers Planning Commission for sharing our vision for community growth and progress.”
The U-ENT zoning is designed to promote the development of large entertainment venues like concert pavilions and sports facilities in the Uptown area, enhancing the overall character of the area as defined by the Uptown Rogers Development Code (URDC). Similarly, the U-COM zoning encourages dense, pedestrian-friendly, primarily commercial mixed-use development. It fosters shared parking, pedestrian connectivity, and the use of boulevards and public spaces.
“Obtaining approval for rezoning significantly propels our mission to contribute positively to the community and augment the soccer experience in Northwest Arkansas,” added Warren Smith, co-founder of USL Arkansas. “We eagerly continue our work towards introducing competitive professional soccer and creating an unrivaled fan experience.”
Following this positive development, the next pivotal step is the upcoming City Council meeting scheduled for July 25th, where the final rezoning approval will be sought. Continued coordination with the Zoning Review Committee and local stakeholders remains a priority, ensuring alignment with community goals and standards.
